Start Your Career In Digital Marketing

Now’s the time. Digital marketing is here, and if you’re in traditional marketing and you’re thinking about making the switch, this is the time to do it. More and more companies are looking to professionals in the field to handle their digital marketing campaigns because they’re realizing that it’s not all about email blasts and text messages anymore. Here are some tips from the team here at justplayin’ if you want to take the leap.

While you’re learning the trade, one of the most important things you can do is to make yourself known. Start a blog, website and get your social media game moving fast. Learn some search engine optimization basics and get them working for you immediately. The first thing your potential clients are going to do is search for your name. If you don’t pop up, then they won’t pop up. You don’t get the job.

Understand analytics like there’s no tomorrow. Most clients don’t understand this, but there’s really no real effective digital marketing without data or analytics. Learn everything you can about data sets. Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads or any other digital marketing ad service will offer some sort of data compiling that will help you target your potential customers. This will keep those costs down, and get people clicking. That’s the name of the game. You want lots of clicks and then you want those clicks converting for as little cost as possible. Knowing how people search, shop and basically think will help you get there. Data is everything.

Know the trends. Digital marketing is constantly changing. It’s not like the days of the newspaper business where you find small changes over time. You have to be looking to the future at all times. Stay ahead of the curve. Take classes here and there. If there are conferences you can attend about future software and trends…go. There are hundreds and thousands of apps, software tools, viruses and other digital trends and situations you should be aware of at all times hitting the digital scene every day of the week.

Get certified by Google or another source. You want to have an arsenal of trusted digital certifications. This is a great way to learn a little about your new trade and earn some trust from your clients and the search engines you’ll be pumping out ads and websites on. You can take classes from Google directly on everything from adwords, and Youtube to analytics and optimization. It’s well worth your time.

Take whatever job you can get at first. Even if you were a $150,000 a year marketing guru in the past, don’t forget that you’re a baby now. There are thousands of kids coming out of schools looking for jobs every year, so if you’re offered an internship or low paying job to get your feet wet…take it. Get the experience and keep learning and looking.

Don’t forget to network. You have to make connections. There’s always a marketing firm out there that’s overwhelmed with work and could use some part-time help. Others may be able to help point you in the direction of training or you can just pick their brains from time to time. There’s a wealth of experience you can obtain from networking and it’s always good to have friends in the business. Plus, you never know when you may have something to offer them in return.

Digital marketing is expanding fast and there’s no end in sight. If you have the opportunity to educate yourself now and work your way into this lucrative world, do it, you’ll be glad you did. Check in with Richiebelloblogs.com for more on everything you want to know auto.
